Extranets & Intranets

Keeping Content Secure

Extranets

Providing secure access to external parties for the purpose of sharing operations and information can be invaluable to an organisation. NetEnable leverages the underlying defence grade security model to allow the easy management of access for individuals, groups or roles at a site, sub-site or document level of granularity.

Intranets

In addition to the the same security model used to create Extranets, NetEnable also has specific features to enhance the Intranet.

  • Intranet Only Content - A special Intranet Only field can be enabled within normal content documents. The content within this field is only displayed on the Intranet. For example, a document published to the Internet may outline a new range of Fees, when viewed on the Intranet by the call centre, this document would also display the internal reasoning for the fee changes and answers to frequently asked questions.
  • Detailed Intranet History - Likewise a detailed publishing history can be made available on the Intranet but not the Internet site.

Security Access

The four “logical” access points are:

  • Content Libraries
    • Access determines the ability to author/edit/manage content etc.
  • Site Navigators
    • Access determines the ability to publish to and /or launch content.
  • Site Cascade
    • Access determines which areas of a site/subsites can be viewed by external parties.
  • Documents
    • Within each of the areas security can be applied to an individual document.

Access to each of these is governed by the group and authenticated individual belongs to and the roles associated with that group.
